We are united against you: Apec Fashion through the Years (symbolises their cohesion).

Since U.S. President Bill Clinton started the tradition at the 1993 summit, leaders of the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation have gathered for a group photo in the host country’s traditional garb.

From Driza-Bone coats in Australia to tunics dubbed ‘Star Trek suits’ in China, the annual Apec summit is renowned for staging awkward photoshoots with global leaders. This year, they wore a slightly more restrained woollen shawl, but here’s a rundown of some of the classics.

Peru 2016: US President Barack Obama (top left), Japan’s prime minister Shinzo Abe (bottom left), South Korea’s prime minister Hwang Kyo-Ahn (bottom right) and Vietnam’s President Trai Dai Quang (top ring) wave during the traditional “family photo” on the final day of the Apec summit in Lima.Indonesia 1994: Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad (left) and Indonesian President Suharto (right) wave to photographers as US President Bill Clinton looks on. The leaders were wearing Batik shirts.

All best buddies.

Malaysia 1998: Leaders pose in batik shirts.New Zealand 1999: APEC leaders in front of a Maori meeting house in black yachting jackets.

They can't wait to get home and start waging war on each other!

Chile 2004: On the back row are John Howard and George W Bush wearing the traditional chamanto.South Korea 2005: Japan’s Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi (centre) and Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (centre right) wearing hanboks.

Asian enemies?

Singapore 2009: Leaders including Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and US President Barack Obama.China 2014: Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (left), Philippines President Benigno Aquino (centre) and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin (right), with Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott in the background ... all wearing Tang suit jackets.

Unified they stand. Divided we fall for all their lie$

I think big pink penis costumes would look awesome.

Take a look at Putin's expression in the bottom left photo. He looks like he'd really like to be back home wearing his designer tracksuit and Gucci slippers!

All that's missing is the pointy hats.

Vladimir Putin, Olympics

Vladimir Putin (middle) competing in the 5-man, 3-horse pole vault event at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

I remember in my late teens, under Bolger NZ had the CHOGM conference. CHOGM sounded more like a case of venereal disease.

Lol sure does.
