|Jeff Phillips (aka member Jeffery Goober Wefferson) recorded this broadcast of OTB radio in the macro-nemeton of the Hobart Botanical Garden in his beloved Tasmania, the land 'down under' to the land 'down under.' Nemeton is an ancient Greek word used by Druids, meaning 'a sacred grove of trees.' This is not a naturally occurring nemeton, as most would have been back in the day, but a very special garden-forest consisting of thousands of different kinds of trees, flowers, shrubs, bushes, flowers, herbs, succulents, fruits and vegetables all living very happily together, with plenty of space, light, water and good company.
Jeff Phillips says: I love being in the Hobart botanical garden and I feel like I could actually live there! All botanical gardens are special places because they are protected areas where trees and plants don't have to worry about being molested or destroyed, but also because they consist of complex and unique constellations of various members of the plant kingdom who might never live together except by the hand of man.
EUCALYPTUS TREE IN CHRISTCHURCH BOT GARDEN
The Hobart botanical garden is ultra-special in that it is in Tasmania, which is herself a very ecologically unique and spiritually powerful ark if you will of Gondwana-remnant life forms and landscapes. I feel that in this sacred macro-nemeton I am able to be in close communion not only with the spirits and devas of my favourite trees and plants but also with the spirit of water-based life herself.
Join me as I explore the consciousness of water-based life, a term that I first heard used by Dr. John C. Lilly, whose dolphin communication group I worked with in the early 1980's.
