Hi Sam, this isn't a rainbow, but is a stunning photograph of a unique combination of part of a circumhorizontal arc forming in a fallstreak hole cloud, also know as a punch hole cloud. See Katherine Lauchland-Farquhar's photo of a circumhorizontal arc on metvuw on 3 February 2016 and check out here for an explanation of circumhorizontal arcs and click here for an explanation of fallstreak holes. CHRISTCHURCH NEW ZEALAND 5.7 QUAKE -DAY BEFORE. NOTE PUNCH CIRCLE. WORLD VIEW 13.2.2016
Thank you Rose, a very informative video on the emf positioning and I love how budgie chirped his agreement too about the cloud hole punches. Also the time 13.13 seems rather too convenient. Great capture before it disappeared or was stealthily removed.
Check this out peeps
Maybe 2 meters (6 feet) is exaggerating somewhat - it just felt that way. Probably more like 1 meter (3 feet) and that's bad enough when you're on solid floor. But it was good that we weren't hit by anything falling like the chandeliers and a very heavy candlestick that was on the sideboard next to me.
