and I'll tell you wot, old Donkey hasn't been smiling and smirking much on the box this week like usual either...maybe he knows everyone and that includes his own nat party voters are on to him and about time.  Have heard stories from quite a few fed up farmers round the district too bagging him also.

Heres one of the hole punches from the other side

Sam wrote 'caught this unique cloud formation complete with rainbow while looking east from Te Arai Point on Valentine's Day, 14 February 2016 at 12:34 with an iPhone 6.'

Hi Sam, this isn't a rainbow, but is a stunning photograph of a unique combination of part of a circumhorizontal arc forming in a fallstreak hole cloud, also know as a punch hole cloud. See Katherine Lauchland-Farquhar's photo of a circumhorizontal arc on metvuw on 3 February 2016 and check out here for an explanation of circumhorizontal arcs and click here for an explanation of fallstreak holes. So many Cantabrians have noted the same thing  Linda - the anniversaries.

Can't make this shit up...

I know, 13.13 on Valentine's Day! That's their signature right there, in the time stamp! Pure coincidence? A little Valentine's Day pressie for Chch, just to let us know they haven't forgotten us! In my experience, they like to give us wake up, shake up reminders around the time of the anniversaries, but exactly on the 5 year anniversary of the Feb 22nd quake might be too obvious, so they choose a day near it? Pure coincidence, yeah right!

Thank you Rose, a very informative video on the emf positioning and I love how budgie chirped his agreement too about the cloud hole punches.  Also the time 13.13 seems rather too convenient.  Great capture before it disappeared or was stealthily removed.

Maybe 2 meters (6 feet) is exaggerating somewhat - it just felt that way.  Probably more like 1 meter (3 feet) and that's bad enough when you're on solid floor.  But it was good that we weren't hit by anything falling like the chandeliers and a very heavy candlestick that was on the sideboard next to me.
