Canada is to become the second country in the world to fully legalise marijuana, after the senate approved legislation paving the way for recreational cannabis to be legally bought and sold within the next two or three months.

“We’ve just witnessed a very historic vote that ends 90 years of prohibition,” senator Tony Dean told reporters on Tuesday after the vote to pass the Cannabis Act.

“It ends 90 years of needless criminalisation, it ends a prohibition model that inhibited and discouraged public health and community health in favour of just-say-no approaches that simply failed young people miserably.”

There are some caveats.  Some of the regulation is left up to the province and there are at least two that will not support growing your own. That was always going to be thrown in at the last moment. Overall it's a good move. Most of the population of Canada don't care if one smokes pot. It's been in wide use for a long time. It's not going to make it cheaper, but it will be regularly available at sanctioned stores.

It's a waste of time and resources to go after pot n such. That policing power can be put to better use elsewhere. And our jails can be filled with other criminals that really deserve to be there.

So, it will be a cash cow for the government and that's expected. And damn there is gonna be some damn fine pot comin our way. And the stuff we can get already from 'traditional' sources is quite good.

I support a client that is heavy into pot avocation, and I guess it's about to get good for them too. They have grown by about 500% in the last 6 months.  So it's ramping up for sure.

And the more people take a puff, the sooner we can all chill and relax a bit. :D

Appreciated the local info GH.

In NZ if you are a so called war hero who dies in a helicopter crash, and have been found to have cannabis in your system, the cannabis is not a contributing factor to the accident.

However if you kill 10 innocent people in a balloon crash and have cannabis in your system it is labeled as the number one contributing factor.

War hero, just another ridiculous oxymoron.

THAT'S NICE!!!
