This kaimanawa wall is fascinating.  I saw something about this maybe a yr ago and forgot about it.  We need to get more of this opened up and study the area.  Thanks for the post Sara.  I also find the area at Castle Hill fascinating where there is meant to be a significant meridian line.  I go to Mt CHeeseman most yrs skiing and have always found the formation of some of the cone hills in the valley quite interesting given one in particular looks so ordered.   Very early one morning I looked out and saw a large white blue light 60 miles or so in distance rise up very close to sunrise and hover for about 10-15 secs and become much larger in size then it just......wiff:  disappeared.  Most unusual experience at 6 am.
