IF I HAD NEVER LOOKED UP, a poem for a "wake-up" at my poetry group.

If I hadn't been a cloud watcher as a little child,

Laying on my back in the grass

Watching a parade of clouds go by

Shape-shifting into animals or faces of people I knew...

If I hadn't worked nights as an adult,

I would have missed seeing

Clouds mimicking a long train on the far horizon,

Heads protruding from each car...Giraffe, elephant, lion,

All outlined against A backdrop of gold and red sky,

announcing sunrise...

Like a circus coming to town...

If I hadn't laid on my back in the grass with my children,

Teaching them this game of imagination….

Watching silvery jets passing overhead,

With their disappearing contrails like kite tails,

Imagining angel children playing in the sky, flying those kites...

But also teaching them the science of it all.

If I had never been thrilled, year after year

For over seventy of them, watching for rainbows

When the sun peeped through the clouds

on rainy days, doing their magic color-show thing...

Never once seeing rainbows confined within the clouds themselves,

Now, showing up often, even at night,

In the cloudy cover, circling around the moon,

And one, earth bound,  laying in the hollow of Jones Creek.

If I were a child, laying on my back in the grass today

If I had never racked up those other 70 years of sky watching,

I may find this sky to be the norm.

If I had never done those things

I wouldn't believe my eyes now

as I watch jets lay rows of

contrails miles long

that stay for hours... and hours

In row after billowing row of Chemtrails.

(Like a corn field in Iowa),

They hang for hours, slowly coalescing

To cover the blue vault of heaven

Obscuring the sun, the stars, the moon.

If I had never gone searching,

I would never have known

That there are thousands of others,

Who, like me, remember a different sky

And are disturbed by this one…

I would never have found the documentation

That proves CHEMTRAILS are real.

If I had had never done that...

I would never have imagined

That there's an entity powerful enough

To make this to happen...

In the skies all around the world.

I would never have known

They want me to call this cloud-seeding

Weather control, geo-engineering,

Or Stratospheric Aerosol Injection.

If I had never read this to you,

I would not have fulfilled my duty

As a lover of the beautiful planet Earth

And a lover of mankind.

If you had never seen the sky changes

Or had never heard of this before...

Now you have. Look up!

Excellent, it still a lonely journey but it gives me a bit more courage to face it each time someone splats out a decent bit of creativity on the subject.

Just love those rare days when the clouds look like they did in the 80s. Even then I was hearing stories from older people about weather modification. 3rd generation conspiracy realist here. <3

But not quite the 70 years of sky watching yet.

Love the poem Barbara and thank you for sharing it. I remember spending hours on hours sky watching as a child and things certainly have changed.
