Also, I Thought Id do a related cloning/gene editing post after seeing this discussion. Its just educated speculation on my part that the weird "baby rat aliens" from Auckland may have escaped from a lab. But speculation on this case notwithstanding, chimeras are a happening thing.

Yeah Ive seen those whopper dragonflies in Northland before, they are something else. Not sure if they are native but Im glad theres insect life to be seen at all.

The bug population has dramatically decreased the past 2 years..since they started erecting massive towers all over Northland. This summer seems better than last year but the drop off in insect numbers is frightening.

 25th January 2019, my wife spotted this Australian Tiger Dragonfly in our backyard in Kerikeri. Is this common in NZ?

It sure ain't overfly large as was suggested

 and if they were moth legs as suggested by one Gooberment agency, how about some PROOF and the name of the moth?

Random that they were also found in Aussie.
